As new and even more exciting chapter begins in my life, I would like to pause and say thank you to 2011. The year that brought more change than many a year before.
2011 gave me a new husband, and new home and a new full-time career. I began the year writing a list of goals for a year that I never saw coming. I look back at that list now, and it seems so tame compared with the events that took place, but I guess that having those goals written out freed me up to surpass them.

I began the year training to improve my photography in all the spare time I could grab from a demanding and full time job. I continued to run the content for The Photography Parlour, until its closure in August, and had the joy to interview Adam Alex, Chanelle Segerius-Bruce, Jesh de Rox, Jessica Claire, and Justin and Mary Marantz. I was privileged to train with Jesh de Rox, Jasmine Star, Dane Sanders and Adam Alex – some of the leaders in the wedding photography industry and people who change helped me develop in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
I met some incredible friends last year, dear people who have supported me through the changes that have taken place, and I particularly want to thank Ross, Helen, Tamara, Glen and Nicki, Vicky and Sam and Debs. You are all very special to me.
The support and love of my then fiancé, and a twist of events that gave him a perfectly suited new job in Oxford compelled me to make choices about my career and put in motion the series of event that led me to go full time with my wedding photography business, which I have had since 2008.
The day of our wedding became the first official day of my new full time pursuit, and I relished putting photographer as my occupation on the marriage certificate. Our wedding was the most perfect day, surrounded by our very dearest loved ones, and will forever define that year. I cannot wait to share images from our day, and will do so very soon.

In the few short months since our wedding day, I have been so excited to have the weddings of some of 2011’s couples featured in You & Your Wedding Magazine and the top UK wedding blogs Rock n’ Roll Bride and Love My Dress. I couldn’t have imagined I would have achieved this last January.
I have to thank all the couples that in 2011 chose me to document their weddings. Kate and Dominic, Louise and Nick, Jillian and Phil, Claire and Guy, Gemma and Matt, Sam and Jerry, Henry and Rachel, Nicola and Scott, Amy and David, Jo and Keith, Ceri and Terry and Anna and Gwilym, I love you all dearly and feel greatly honored to have been witness of your love and for you to have chosen me to capture your memories for years to come. You have each taught me something different and changed my life in some small but truly significant way.

So to look forward to this great new year of twenty twelve. I am thrilled to get to know my dear couples who will be married before the year is out. I am overjoyed to be submerged in a career I am so passionate about.
Being full time will allow me to do all the things I have been longing to do: expanding my business service, enhancing the experience and looking after my couples on a whole new level; development of and unique products to display images in the most beautiful way; refine and define the art of my capture to be evermore unique to me and evocative of the event.
I am very excited for the adventure 2012 will become, hopefully with more work-life balance, and a whole lot of advance in my service and skill – for me the journey, and the strive for improvement (dare I say perfection) will always drive me.
Finally, to my dear husband. Thank you for your support, for encouraging me to pursue my dreams, for being with me every step of the way. Last year was a roller-coaster and we made it through and enjoyed the ride like no other, but I cannot wait for this year with you. You are my best friend and I am a much better version of myself with you beside me. Being married to you is the very best feeling – I feel calmer and stronger than ever, and I love you so very much.
Here’s to what will be a fabulous year.

Wow! What a year huh?
I’m so very proud of you and the steps taken over the past year in order to fulfil your dreams. Tanja and I were also honoured to be able to share your gorgeous wedding day with you guys and in Jake you really have found a real gem.
But next year is going to be even more awesome, as you continue to raise the bar (as I know you will).
Still got your back,
RD x
