Rain & Shine: {Seemat & Josh}

Seemat & Josh have a closeness that when you witness it, it makes you feel you are in on a special secret. We spent an afternoon with them on Hampstead Heath, bathed in sunshine and in just a little rain. It is a place they come to walk, and spend some quiet time in between their busy weeks. I am so grateful to have been able to share in their world.

Primary colours {Amy & Pete}

Pete has lived in this area all his life, and Amy is from only a few miles down the road. They have created for themselves a new home amongst the fields that have surrounded them as they have grown. They took me on a walk they do most days and shared with me a little of the magic they hold together. I feel truly blessed to be chosen by couples with such genuine appreciation.

It was a bright day, but the wind was surprisingly cold. The freshness of Spring licked our arms and legs and we wandered through woodland and amongst the brightest yellow rape seed crops. The colours that surrounded them reflected in the vibrancy of their relationship.

Amy and Pete live busy lives and as they shared time together in the shoot I saw such beautiful expressions of the love and care they hold for one another. I am genuinely thrilled to be documenting their wedding very soon.

This session incorporated photogenic technique, which I use to help couples feel relaxed and genuine, showing their individual and beautiful sides – such shoots are often referred to with the term Beloved. I will be sharing more about Beloved in the weeks to come.

The Silver Horse and the Glasshouse {Michelle & Harry}

They are so at ease with each other, so in love, with a deep respect which is spellbinding. There are moments when as a photographer I am utterly caught up in the emotion of the couple, so that the release of the shutter is an reflex of recognition. Those moments when something beautiful is unfolding before my eyes, are the moments when I know that I am doing the very best thing I could be doing.

Michelle and Harry are beautiful people inside and out. Thoughtful, kind, fun. We met at the University of Cambridge Botanic Gardens, which have changed so much in the few years since I have been. They were stunning then, and now present a complex and dramatic backdrop. Michelle’s old school has been engulfed my the new garden developments, so the grounds were especially poignant for her as she remembered playing the in the woodland there when she was little. I am so grateful that I got to spend an afternoon sharing in their friendship and love.

Their pre-wedding shoot incorporated a lot of the photogenic technique, which I study and use to help couples be at their most relaxed and genuine – such shoots are often referred to with the term Beloved. I will be sharing more about Beloved in the weeks to come.

Time {rejuvenation}

This last month has been one of the busiest since I has been full-time. I am so overwhelmingly grateful for my couples – beautiful people who chose to share a little of their lives with me and trust me to collect and preserve their memories.

I have retreated to a quiet town on the coast to recharge my mind and soul before the next wave, and am feeling so appreciative to be doing a job I love everyday.

Quintessentially Cambridge {Alex & Paul}

Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, is very special for Alex & Paul. It is where they met and shared many happy memories…and now they no longer live in Cambridge they chose to return for their engagement shoot to the college they hold so dear.

We spent a lovely morning around the grand quads of Gonville & Caius, and then off to the gardens of Clare College – particularly nostalgic for me as I spent 10 years studying there. It is so wonderful and so funny that Alex & Paul and I were all at Cambridge at the same time, and although I didn’t meet them then, we certainly knew some of the same people. It is a small and beautiful world.

They are absolutely adorable and I am so excited to share their celebrations in the summer when they will be getting married at another of the stunning colleges Cambridge holds….which one? I will keep that as a surprise!
